FIBROMYALGIA AND ITS HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT
If you are suffering from chronic pain, fatigue and tenderness to touch, you may be suffering from fibromyalgia which is a central pain syndrome characterized by these features. Fibromyalgia symptoms are not restricted to pain, other symptoms include fatigue, sleep disturbance and joint stiffness. Fibromyalgia tender points are localized areas of the body that are tender to touch. Fibromyalgia tender points, or pressure points are commonly around elbows, shoulders, knees, hips, back of head and side of the breast bone and are typical signs of fibromyalgia.
After a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress symptoms may begin. While in other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event. It is more common in women as compare to men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression. There is no single test that can fully diagnose fibromyalgia and there is debate over what should be considered essential diagnostic criteria and whether an objective diagnosis is possible.
While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help.
Fitness and sleep can be improved in some patients with the help of exercise. It may reduce pain and fatigue in some patients. While cardiovascular exercise is effective for some patients. Long-term aquatic-based exercise has been proven beneficial as it combines cardiovascular exercise with resistance training. However, due to the cold sensitivities of people with fibromyalgia syndrome, aquatic therapy must take place in a warm pool. Specialised pool facility where the air outside of the pool must also be heated to prevent fibromyalgia patients from getting chills and aches when out of the water. In children and teens, fibromyalgia is often treated with an intense physical and occupational therapy program for amplified musculoskeletal pain syndromes. These programs also employ counseling, art therapy, and music therapy.
Homoeopathic medicines like bryonia, rhus tox and ruta have helped me a lot in treating cases of fibromyalgia. Bryonia is given when there is stiffness and stitches in small of back. Every spot is painful on pressire. Warmth and motion aggravates the symtoms. While rhus tox patient is better by motion of the parts and patient cannot tolerate cold air. All the body parts are painful as if bruised in ruta. Spine and limbs feel bruised. There is pain in back and loins. Stiffness of joints.
